Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!

We are celebrating the week of the Paralytic Man, which this Sunday recounts for us the scene of Jesus healing the paralytic at the Sheep Pool in Jerusalem. Since only God can heal, Christ shows us He is God by His electrifying display of divine power.

The most significant feast of the entire liturgical year is the Resurrection of our Lord. St. Paul considers this point of faith:

For I handed on to you as of the first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures; that he was buried; that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures; that he appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve. After that he appeared too more than five hundred brethren at once, most of whom are still living. 1 Corinthians 15: 3-6

The Resurrection of Christ is not simply a return to life, but the transformation of all humanity. The Resurrection is physical, and the Gospel writers are very careful to affirm that fact. Jesus is truly risen, but note carefully the glorious and mysterious element in the resurrection. The wounds are still there, though they have no effect and they now become a sign and trophy of His victory over death on the Cross.
